Not Here

I sincerely believe in the power of travel and the affects it can have on a person. There is nothing more eye opening but to travel to place you have never been before, where you know no one and just explore. I spent the last month visiting places that I would have never seen myself ever visiting. Places I couldn’t even point out on a map. For example I never new how friendly and welcoming the people of Boise Idaho would be. Or how a Guatemalan would just open up to a complete stranger in a Brooklyn hostel. Explain their whole life, their dreams for the future. Or how easy it is to fall for someone on the other side of the continent. But it happened continuously for the last month while I was traveling. There is no comparison to wake up in a foreign city and spend the whole day walking around and exploring. Meeting such a variety of people at every turn. People who are as interested in you as you are in them.
I honestly believe travel could solve a majority of the world’s problems. But it would have to be honest traveling. Where you completely immerse yourself in place you have never been. Act as everyone else and keep your mouth shut and just listen. Wait for the city to open up to you and you will be amazed.
As I look to the future I am already looking to travel to more places. I fantasize about the people I would meet and experiences I will have. Travel should be on the minds of all people because I think the worst thing would be to never leave your bubble and get lost in a foreign town.
